Thunder Split Home Series

Edinburg, Texas - Joe Weik went 2-4 as the Abilene Prairie Dogs (6-9) took home a 6-1 victory over the McAllen Thunder (4-12) at Edinburg Stadium on Friday.

He singled in the second and ninth innings.

The Abilene Prairie Dogs relied on Billy Petrick to eat up innings en route to the win. Petrick (1-0) pitched eight innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out three for his first victory of the season.

A bright spot for the McAllen Thunder in the defeat was Baron Short, who allowed only two runs while striking out six in seven and one third innings pitched fell to 0-2 on the season.

The Thunder will start a home two game mini-series against the Rio Grande Valley White wings on Saturday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. The Thunder will start left-hander Kedrick Martin (1-1) versus a starter to be name for the White wings with the first pitch scheduled at 7:05 p.m.
