Daytona Beach Thunder News Release

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Daytona Beach Thunder has signed former USF defensive back Javan Camon, Head Coach/General Manager Ervin Bryson announced Monday.

Camon (5-11, 180) was a four-time letterman for the Bulls from 2001-2004. The Bulls' special teams MVP in 2003, Camon was a team captain his senior year and led the team in tackles with 101.

He'll join a Thunder that includes Nick Allison and Micah Simmons, who registered a combined 23 interceptions for the now dormant Daytona Beach Hawgs of the National Indoor Football League last season.

"A strong secondary just got stronger," Bryson said. "Javon brings the smarts and the athletic ability needed to shut down a receiver a single coverage. Defensive coordinator Monteray Evans is very happy to get a player in the caliber of a Javon Camon. Our goal is to shut teams out and we're headed in that direction."

The Thunder opens its inaugural American Indoor Football League season on Feb. 26 2006 at the Chattahoochie Valley (Ga.) Vipers with the home opener in the Ocean Center March 2 against the Raleigh Rebels. Season ticket information is available by calling the Ocean Center Box Office at (386) 254-4545 or visiting the team's official web site at http://www.dbthunder.net.
