Thunder Signs D Scott Warner to Amateur Tryout

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League, announced the team has signed rookie defenseman Scott Warner to an amateur tryout agreement.

Warner, 24, recently completed his college career with the University of Alaska-Anchorage (NCAA) this season, skating in 36 games while collecting six points (3g-3a).

The Anchorage, Alaska native, who skated on the same Sullivan Arena home ice surface of the Alaska Aces, notched a career high last season with 13 assists and 15 points in 32 games as captain of the Seawolves.

Warner suited up in 129 career games with Army and Alaska-Anchorage, collecting 14 goals and 40 points.

The Thunder opens the Western Conference Semifinals tonight with Game 1 against the Aces at Sullivan Arena, beginning at 8:15 p.m. (1360 AM KFIV/StocktonThunder.com).

A two time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," the Thunder led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons and drew over 200,000 fans for the seventh consecutive season in 2011-12.
