Daytona Beach Thunder News Release

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daytona Beach Thunder owners Kevin McDonald, Zack McDonald and Antone Smothers announced today the appointment of Jeremiah Johnson as the American Indoor Football League franchise's general manager.

Johnson, 28, will handle the team's day-to-day operations with an emphasis on sales, promotions, and community awareness.

"In our opening season, Jeremiah drove the bus, set up the field, coordinated the flow of the game presentation, got the team to where it needed to be - he WAS the general manager as far as I'm concerned,'' said Thunder owner/CEO Zack McDonald. "Even though this appointment may seem little more than a formality, it also represents the faith we have in Jeremiah to oversee this team's growth. His first and foremost responsibility is making sure we have 7,000 people in the Ocean Center watching our games in 2007."

Johnson looks forward to the challenge.

"I'm honored that Zack believes in me enough that I can put 7,000 people in a building that only holds 6,800, but it shows he thinks I can do the job and beyond," Johnson said. "Zack, Kevin and Antone have created a situation that allows myself and the rest of the Thunder staff to succeed. Now it's a matter of getting it done."

Johnson came to the Thunder after a stint with the Daytona Cubs, one of the most successful franchises in the Florida State League.

A native of Ozark, Ala., Johnson is the former owner of New Wave Marketing, an Atlanta-based marketing firm.
