
Thunder Mourns Tragic Death of Bob Schmitt

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bob Schmitt, Director of Technology for the Daytona Beach Thunder indoor football team, died Saturday, June 3 from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident. He was 55.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda, a daughter, four stepsons and 11 grandchildren.
"The entire Daytona Beach organization grieves along with Brenda and the Schmitt family,'' said Thunder Owner/CEO Zack McDonald. "Bob was a man of integrity, a man of conviction and a man committed to excellence. We will always value his contributions and keep a place in ours hearts for him. He will be missed, but we take comfort in knowing that he is now with the Lord."
Schmitt oversaw the development of the team's official web site at dbthunder.net as well as the team's online store at dbthunderstore.com through a partnership with his company CompuGenie Website Design.
He was formerly the Director of Student Technical Services and Webmaster at Bethune-Cookman College and the Web Technology Administrator at APCO International before pursuing his own business.
