McAllen Thunder News Release
Harlingen, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings for a second straight night defeated the McAllen Thunder by a score 8-3 on Wednesday night at Harlingen Field.
The WhiteWings were led by third baseman Levi Ventura who drove in four of the eight including a home run in the first inning that gave the 'Wings a 3-0 lead that would never be relinquished.
McAllen responded with a two-run homerun by Miguel Alfonzo in the second inning, which was the second of the season and first as a member of the Thunder (16-30) and got to with-in a 3-2 deficit.
It would be as close as they would get, as the WhiteWings (26-19) would add two more runs in the second and put the game out of reach for the Thunder.
Luis Chirinos (6-3) ended up with the victory for the WhiteWings while allowing the two runs, on seven hits, and five strikeouts.
Alexei Perez (2-2) was on the wrong end of the decision allowing eight runs on ten hits and giving up a homerun.
