Madison, WI - The Bloomington Thunder head to Madison for the back end of a home and home series with the Capitols Sunday afternoon. Puck drop is at 3:00 pm CST from the Alliant Energy Center to end their head-to-head games in 2014-15. The Thunder clashed with their Eastern Conference rivals Saturday night at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum to the final score of 5-3 and improved to 22-20-7 on the season.
The Thunder did not get help from the Muskegon Lumberjacks last night and are still down by nine points for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Dubuque fell to the Chicago Steel and are tied with the 'Jacks but have two games in hand on Muskegon and Bloomington.

Saturday evening the Thunder topped the Caps with a solid performance on special teams, shots on net, and contributions from new players. Both Bailey Conger (St. Lawrence University) and Steven Merl netted their first goals with the Thunder, while the team recorded 46 shots on net. Ryan Galt (University of Nebraska-Omaha) and Jake Slaker each turned in a power play goal in route to two-point performances. Bloomington's power play was 2-3 in the game and the penalty kill finished 4-5 on the night as well.
Madison is led by Mitch Hults with 32 points (13g, 19a), while Matt Mendelson (Penn State University) leads the charge for Bloomington with 34 points (13g, 21a). 12 of those points have come on the power play. Darren Smith has seen the most action this season with a 12-10-7 record, a 3.18 GAA, and a .911 SVPT. Logan Halladay (University of Minnesota) and Hayden Lavigne (University of Michigan) have split time for the Thunder and gone 11-7-2 since Lavigne's arrival.
