ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Thunder (10-12) fell to the league-leading Philadelphia Force (16-6) by one run for the second straight night on Thursday, this time by a walk-off home run by pinch hitter Emily Friedman.

Friedman's homer ended a game that had been tied 0-0 through six and a half innings, thanks to a pitching duel for the ages between Rockford's Serena Settlemier (0-4) and Philly's Katie Burkhart (5-2). Burkhart struck out 14 of the 26 batter she faced on the night, giving up just three hits to the visiting Thunder. Settlemier gave up just six hits on the evening while striking out five Force batters in the complete game effort.

The Thunder's best chance to take the lead came in the top of the seventh inning as right fielder Shanna Diller doubled to lead off the inning; however, two strikeouts and a groundout left Diller standing on second base.

In the bottom half of the inning, Friedman entered the lineup and ended the game with a one-out shot to left field.

The Thunder and Force will meet up again Friday night at 6:05 pm Central time. Live stats and a video feed can be accessed at the Force website.
