Portland Thunder News Release

PORTLAND, OR - The Thunder left Jacksonville with not only a win, but a couple of league honors as well, as wide receiver Douglas McNeil's one-handed, behind-the-back snag brought him Cutters Catch of the Week honors. Bryce Peila, whose interception and ensuing return for a touchdown helped put the Thunder up by multiple scores, earned J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week honors.

CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK

McNeil III (6-3, 200, Bowie State) made a spectacular one-handed catch across the middle on a ball thrown behind him in the fourth quarter of Portland's 69-62 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks in Week 7. He caught all four completions on the drive, including the Thunder's final touchdown of the game. The rookie finished the contest with a game-high 12 receptions for 154 yards and four scores. McNeil III has caught 18 passes for 262 yards and six touchdowns in the last two games and will receive a Cutters hat and shirt in recognition of the catch.

J. LEWIS SMALL PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK

Peila (6-1, 205, Western Oregon) led the Thunder with five tackles and returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown in Portland's 69-62 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks in Week 7. Peila, who scored his second defensive touchdown of the year, leads all AFL rookies with six takeaways and has collected a turnover in every game this season. He will be awarded a timepiece crafted by J. Lewis Small for his efforts.

The Thunder look to build on their win on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. EDT against the Tampa Bay Storm. The game will be streamed online on ESPN3 and will be broadcast via radio on 970 AM. To keep up with everything going on with the Thunder, visit our website at www.portlandthunder.com.
