
Raudabaugh, Summers and Peila Earn Weekly Honors

CHICAGO - Philadelphia Soul quarterbackDan Raudabaughhas been awarded Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week, while Spokane Shock Mac linebackerDerrick Summershas been named the Riddell Defensive Player of the Week and Portland Thunder Jack linebackerBryce Peilahas been named J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week for Week 7 of the 2014 NET10 Wireless Arena Football League season. In addition to these awards, the AFL is also awarding the Cutters Catch of the Week and AFL Highlight of the Week. Portland Thunder wide receiverDouglas McNeil IIIhas been awarded the Cutters Catch of the Week, while the AFL Highlight of the Week went to Philadelphia Soul wide receiverAnthony Jones.
RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Raudabaugh (6-3, 225, Miami Ohio) completed 26-of-35 passes for 283 yards and nine touchdowns, including the game-winning score with three seconds to play, in Philadelphia's 60-55 victory over the Iowa Barnstormers in Week 7. His nine touchdowns represent Raudabaugh's highest single-game total since his career-high 11-touchdown performance against the Tampa Bay Storm on June 29, 2012.
RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Summers (6-1, 265, Toledo) tied Spokane's single-game franchise record for sacks with three in the Shock's 53-41 victory over the Tampa Bay Storm in Week 7. Summers, who has transitioned to Mac linebacker this season after three years at defensive end for the Jacksonville Sharks, finished the game with six tackles and elevated his career sack total to 21.
J. LEWIS SMALL PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK
Peila (6-1, 205, Western Oregon) led the Thunder with five tackles and returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown in Portland's 69-62 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks in Week 7. Peila, who scored his second defensive touchdown of the year, leads all AFL rookies with six takeaways and has collected a turnover in every game this season. He will be awarded a timepiece crafted by J. Lewis Small for his efforts.
CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK
McNeil III (6-3, 200, Bowie State) made a spectacular one-handed catch across the middle on a ball thrown behind him in the fourth quarter of Portland's 69-62 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks in Week 7. He caught all four completions on the drive, including the Thunder's final touchdown of the game. The rookie finished the contest with a game-high 12 receptions for 154 yards and four scores. McNeil III has caught 18 passes for 262 yards and six touchdowns in the last two games and will receive a Cutters hat and shirt in recognition of the catch.
AFL HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK
Jones (5-11, 195, Louisville) hauled in the game-winning six-yard touchdown pass with three seconds to play in Philadelphia's 60-55 victory over the Iowa Barnstormers in Week 7. In front of a national audience on ESPN2, "Tiger" put on a show, scoring touchdowns on five of his seven receptions in the game.
Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week candidates included : Arizona's Maurice Purify, Cleveland's Shane Austin, Orlando's Greg Carr, Portland's Kyle Rowley, San Jose's Rod Harper and Spokane's Erik Meyer.
Riddell Defensive Player of the Week candidates included : Arizona's Arkeith Brown, Cleveland's Dominic Jones, Orlando's Phillip Thomas, Philadelphia's T.J. Langley, Portland's Bryce Peila and San Jose's Clevan Thomas.
J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week candidates included : Arizona's Kerry Reed, Cleveland's Dominick Goodman, New Orleans' Kurt Rocco, Portland's Douglas McNeil III, San Jose's Russ Michna and Spokane's Brandon Thompkins.
The Arena Football League is also awarding the MVP of the Week, where fans are given the opportunity to select the winner. Candidates include Arizona Rattlers quarterbackNick Davila, Portland Thunder quarterbackKyle Rowleyand Spokane Shock quarterbackErik Meyer. Fans will have 24 hours to vote on ArenaFootball.com beginning at1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 30. The winner will be announced onThursday, May 1.
