Thunder Comeback Falls Short

Harlingen, Texas - The McAllen Thunder pounded 17 hits and scored four runs in the seventh and eighth innings but it was not enough as the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (44-32) defeated the Thunder (28-49) 11-7 on Tuesday night at Harlingen Field.

Ruddy Yan racked up three RBIs on four hits for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second, fourth, and fifth innings.

Coleman Stephens got the win, running his season record to (6-4). He allowed three runs over six innings. Stephens struck out four, walked none and gave up nine hits.

Alexei Perez (3-5) took the loss for the McAllen Thunder. He allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out one.

Offensively for the Thunder, Henry Gonzalez and Miguel Alfonzo each had three hits, while Davis Page and Cristobal Santana each had two hits and drove in two runs apiece.

The Thunder will continue their four game series against the White Wings on Wednesday night at Harlingen Field with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
