Thunder and MetroTransit hit the road

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Wednesday, April 21, 2004) – The Minnesota Thunder announced today that they have partnered with MetroTransit to offer FREE bus rides two hours prior and two hours after every Thunder regular season home game. The Thunder's move to James Griffin Stadium (I-94 & Lexington Parkway) in St. Paul this season puts them on several of the cities major bus routes, a luxury the Thunder did not have when playing in Blaine. Thunder fans need to simply show their game ticket with the MetroTransit logo on the ticket stub as they board the bus to get their FREE ride.

"I can't count how many times people called the Thunder office while we were in Blaine asking which bus line to take to the stadium," said Jim Froslid, Thunder President and General Manager. "Now that we are in the cities, we are happy to be able to offer this added value to all of our ticket holders."

MetroTransit will also be sponsor of the Thunder's community appearances. The Thunder will conduct over 200 appearances during the 2004 campaign, reaching an audience of over 20,000.

2. RIVERHOUNDS JACQUETTE SIGNS WITH THUNDER

Brent Jacquette, from the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the Pro Select League, formerly of the A-league, has signed with the Minnesota Thunder, it was announced today by Thunder officials.

A second round draft pick in the 2003 A-league draft, Jacquette started 16 of the Hounds 24 games in 2003, playing every position in midfield and defense. Jacquette played under now Thunder assistant coach Tim Carter.

Jacquette, 23, played for Penn State University as defender/midfielder. He received the Soccer America MVP award, and as captain led his team to such honors as two-time First Team All-BigTen, First Team All-Region, Third Team All-America, and BigTen Champions. The last three years at Penn State he started every game he played, rounding out his collegiate career having started 76 of 83 games.

3. TARGET APPEARANCE

Twenty four members of the Thunder will gather in uniform outside the Nicollet Mall Target on Thursday, April 22 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The team will be hosting a lunchtime juggling contest for any interested lunch goers; whoever can juggle 10 times will receive a ticket to the Thunder's home opener this Sunday at the Metrodome on April 25 at 5 p.m.

4. SEASON TICKET PROMOTION TO GET TO 900

The Thunder announced today a season ticket promotion geared at getting them over the 900 season ticket packages sold mark, surpassing the number sold in 2003. Beginning Thursday, April 22 through May 31, anybody that purchases a season ticket package will receive a FREE 2004 Thunder Schedule T-shirt provided by Soccer USA.

"Our goal is to pass that 900 season ticket package mark," said Matt Schneider, Senior Account Executive for the Thunder. "We are imagining an atmosphere at our new stadium this season like no other in the Twin Cities, an atmosphere that can only be created by the energy of a full stadium."
