Mahoning Valley Thunder News Release

BOARDMAN, OH. - The Mahoning Valley Thunder in conjunction with the arenafootball2 League Offices are pleased to announce that Offensive/Defensive Lineman Andre Bennett (6'6, 340) and Kicker Rick Ziska

(5'8, 160) have been assigned to the 2008 Thunder roster. Both players are in their first season of arenafootball2.

Bennett, a native of Vicksburg, MS, was a three year starter on the Grambling State University Offensive Line.

With the Tigers Bennett earned All-SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference) honors in three consecutive seasons. As a senior in 2006, Bennett was part of an offensive unit that averaged nearly 27 points per contest.

Also joining the Thunder is Rick Ziska of Sinking Spring, PA. Ziska played four seasons with the Lafayette Leopards. In 41 career games Ziska played a major role on the Leopards' special teams, handling the kicking and punting duties. In his career, Ziska connected on 24 of 45 Field Goal attempts and was successful on 106 extra points. His career long Field Goal is from 51 yards.

THUNDER HEAD COACH MIKE HOLD SAYS:

"We're excited about these two guys and the talent they bring to our roster. With Andre, his size is the first thing that you notice. He has long arms which keep defenders from getting into his body when he's pass blocking. And Rick has an extremely strong leg. He's an accurate guy which is extremely important in our league. We feel fortunate that we were able to add these guys this close to the season."

The Mahoning Valley Thunder opens the season at home Saturday March 29th on Cortland Banks Field inside the Chevrolet Centre. Be a part of all the action in 2008 as the Thunder continues their climb towards the ArenaCup9 Championship. Season and individual tickets are on sale now starting at just $12. Group Outings and Birthday Parties for individual games also available. For more information call the Thunder Offices at 330.758.4af2 (4232).
