
Three-Time All-Star Scott Hillman Returning To Jacks For 2003-2004

The first trade of the "Don McKee Era" came in December of 1999. At the time of the deal, the only thing Jackalopes fans knew was their club had a new defenseman. What they didn't know was that the blue liner would become the heart and soul of four consecutive playoff teams and three consecutive division titles.
Today, the Jackalopes have announced that Scott Hillman will return to lead the Jackalopes in the 2003-2004 Central Hockey League Season.
"Scott Hillman's signing sets the foundation for our hockey team," said McKee. "He is one of the premier defensemen in the CHL and every Jackalopes fan knows how much Scott means to this club and this franchise. Scott also feels there's some unfinished business to take care of, and that's the pursuit of a President's Cup."
An All-Star in each of his last three season, Hillman served as Jackalopes Captain in 2001-02, and the CHL's Man Of The Year (awarded fro contributions to his franchise and community) that same season.
"Scott embodies everything our hockey club is about," McKee said. "He brings an unsurpassed work ethic and dedication which is reflected in his performance on the ice and the respect he has gained throughout the league and the community. Most of all, Scott is a winner."
Hillman set a franchise record for scoring by a defenseman, totaling 61 points (16 goals + 45 assists) in the 2002-03 season, finishing third among CHL defenseman in scoring for the season. His 16 goals were also a Jackalopes franchise record for a blueliner.
Hillman had considered retiring following the 2002-03 season but McKee, undoubtedly speaking for every Jackalopes fan, said he's thrilled to have "Hilly" back.
"I just think Scott feels he has more to accomplish in his playing career, and that is to bring a President's Cup to the Jackalopes," McKee said. "Scott has decided to make Odessa his home, and to have him back as a member of this community and back in a Jacks sweater is great news for our hockey club and our fans."
In addition to owning virtually every record for a defenseman in Jackalopes history, Hillman also ranks among the franchise's all-time leaders in games played, scoring and assists. His "+27" rating from the 2001-02 season shattered the franchise "plus-minus" mark.
