Laredo Bucks News Release
(5/09/03) CBS News has advised the Laredo Bucks that the network is planning to air a story on the Bucks this Sunday, May 11 on the CBS Weekend News. The CBS Weekend News airs locally on KVTV-13 at 5:30pm Central Daylight Time.
CBS originally planned to air a story about the Bucks and their remarkable fans on Sunday, February 2. A crew from CBS visited Laredo on January 17 and stayed for the duration of the Bucks' 3-1 victory against the Lubbock Cotton Kings. The space shuttle Columbia accident February 1 led to CBS' decision to pre-empt the Bucks story at that time.
The Bucks have several hundred season ticketholders in México and many more in the United States. The Bucks averaged 7,400 fans per playoff game, more than any professional hockey team outside of the National Hockey League. Overall, the Bucks drew more than a quarter of a million fans in 2002-2003. For ticket information, call (956) 718-BUCKS or visit www.laredobucks.com. On the ice, the Bucks finished second overall in the Central Hockey League with 88 points (41-17-6) and reached the Southern Conference Finals in their inaugural campaign. The Bucks' Laredo Entertainment Center record of 26-4-2 was the best home mark in the CHL.
