Three Things to Know: Nashville SC vs. Birmingham Legion FC
September 16, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE - One week without a match was one too many for Nashville SC, and now the team eagerly awaits tomorrow's home matchup against top-ten team Birmingham Legion FC at First Tennessee Park at 7 p.m. CT. Watching the league's Week 28 unfold from home means Nashville SC hasn't taken the field in nine days, and with playoff positioning and a top spot on the line, the team couldn't be more ready to suit up. However, Birmingham did play over the weekend, dropping a 2-0 result to Nashville SC's most recent opponent, Saint Louis FC. Legion FC has been given just two days to prepare for a strong Nashville side ahead of Tuesday's clash.
Here are three things to know about the match:
1) Fan-Friendly Pricing
First Tennessee Park is the place to be this Tuesday with great deals on tickets, merch and concessions. For all four remaining home matches at the stadium, fans can take advantage of low prices on their match-day favorites including $2 32 oz. Souvenir Sodas, $5 draft beers, $25 and $40 merch grab bags and $11 tickets for September matches. Click here for more information on fan-friendly pricing.
2) Every Point Counts
Nashville SC remains in the hunt for a top-four playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Two teams from the East, New York Red Bulls II and Indy Eleven, each clinched a spot in the playoffs this weekend with a win a piece. Nashville currently sits in fourth place with 51 points in 28 matches played, a position the team will want to stay in to host a playoff match. A win Tuesday could lift NSC into third place and set it up to clinch a playoff spot as soon as this Wednesday should Charleston Battery fall to Atlanta United 2 on Sept. 18.
3) The Stats Show...
One of Nashville SC's biggest strengths this season has been its consistency on both ends of the field. The team ranks near the top of the league in several offensive and defensive categories, and will look to build on the balanced effort its put in already in 2019. Nashville SC ranks ninth in the league and fourth in the Eastern Conference in goals scored with 49 and has the third lowest number of goals allowed in the league with 25. Nashville also boasts 11 shutouts which is the fourth most overall. Comparatively, Legion FC ranks 31st in goals scored with 31, has the 16th lowest number of goals against with 41 and has totaled 10 clean sheets.
