(Rochester, NY)... Three members of the Rochester Rattlers have been selected to play in the Seventh Annual Major League Lacrosse (MLL) All-Star Game.
Rattlers John Grant, Brodie Merrill and Joe Walters will play for the Eastern Conference as they battle the Western Conference All-Stars on Thursday, July 17th at 10:00 p.m. EST at Denver's INVESCO Field at Mile High. The Rattlers will hold a Viewing Party at The Distillery (3010 Winton Road South, Henrietta).
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 with Joe Beninati and Quint Kessenich calling the action and will once again feature the popular Bud Light Skills Competition during halftime. Participants for the Skills Competition events will be announced at a later date.
The All-Stars were selected by the league's head coaches, general managers and players. This is the second season that MLL players have had a chance to be involved in the voting process.
Grant, the league's 2007 Bud Light League MVP, currently leads all players in scoring with 35 points (25 goals, 2 two-point goals, seven assists) through seven weeks. This is his fifth straight MLL All-Star appearance. He is the team's all-time in goals (159) and points (255).
Merrill is making his fourth MLL All-Star appearance. The Rattler is the two-time defending league Defensive Player of the Year. This season, he is second in scoring among league defensemen with seven points (3+4) in five games.
Walters is making his second appearance in an MLL All-Star Game. In 2006, he played for Team USA as they handled the league All-Stars. Walters led all midfielders in scoring last season. This season, he is tied for fourth in the MLL with 26 points (19+7) after seven games.
