NBA G League Ignite News Release
HENDERSON, Nev. - NBA G League Ignite announced today that three Ignite alumni have been selected to the 2023 USA Basketball Men's Select Team. Jalen Green, the first-ever player to sign with Ignite, along with John Jenkins and Eric Mika, who played with Ignite this season, will train with the USA Basketball Men's National Team in preparation for the 2023 FIBA Men's World Cup.
The Select Team will practice and scrimmage daily against the 12-man USA Men's National Team from Aug. 3-6 in Las Vegas. They will also be eligible to travel with the team and serve as potential injury replacement players for the 2023 FIBA Men's World Cup in the Philippines.
Both Mika and Jenkins each have qualifying team experience, as both were members of the July 2022 and August 2022 USAB Men's World Cup Qualifying Teams. Jenkins led the team in scoring through the August window with 48 points while breaking the World Cup qualifying record with eight three-pointers in the Aug. 25 game against Uruguay. Mika led that same team in rebounding with nine boards in the win against Colombia.
