Three Home Runs by Fisher Cats Sink Fightins

The Reading Fightins Phils (34-46) fell victim to three home runs by the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (38-45) as they lost 6-2 on Tuesday afternoon. Reading managed six hits but a four-run 5th inning by the Fisher Cats set back the Fightin Phils.

The newest Fightin Phils got the offense going in the bottom of the 3rd as Raywilly Gomez hit a RBI single off John Anderson to score KC Serna and give Reading a 1-0 lead. New Hampshire opened things up off Hoby Milner in the top of the 5th inning as Jack Murphy and Andy Burns hit two-run home runs to give the Fisher Cats a 4-1 lead.

Reading got a run back in the bottom of the 5th inning off Anderson as KC Serna hit a RBI single to score Peter Lavin who tripled in the previous at-bat to cut New Hampshire's lead in half 4-2. The Fisher Cats added another un as Kevin Nolan hit a solo home run off Milner to extend their lead to 5-2.

Hoby Milner left after six innings as he allowed five runs off eight hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Three of the eight hits were home runs. Milner has now given up a Eastern League worse 16 home runs this season. Colton Murray tossed two scoreless innings in relief of Milner. He struck out two batters while giving up one hit and one walk.

Nefi Ogando allowed one run while loading the bases in the top of the 9th as he walked Dalton Pompey to give New Hampshire a 6-2 lead. Randy Boone earned his ninth save of the season as he struck out two batters in two innings of work while giving up two hits and one walk.

The Fightin Phils and New Hampshire Fisher Cats meet tomorrow night at FirstEnergy Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm. It's GLUTTONY NIGHT thanks to Pepsi, Herr Foods and Moe's Southwest Grill. It's also Fireworks thanks to All Star Distributing and Labbatt Blue.
