Indianapolis Ice News Release
PLAYOFF PICTURE: The Ice reversed an 0-4-1 skid with a pair of weekend wins over Fort Worth which keeps the team in the thick of a highly-contested playoff race. Indy remains part of the five-team jumble for the final two playoff spots in the Northern Conference. Bossier-Shreveport and Colorado continue to own the top two spots in the conference, while Memphis, Indianapolis, Wichita, New Mexico and Oklahoma City are all within eight points of each other for the final two berths. In addition, the four teams trailing Memphis have games in hand with the RiverKings.
BLAZING BAIRD: With seven points (3G, 4A) and a (+7) plus/minus in the two wins over Fort Worth, Jason Baird earned CHL Player of the Week honors and became only the second player this year (Mike Oliveira, New Mexico) to win the award on two occasions this season. The huge weekend ascended Baird up the CHL scoring charts as he moved into a tie for sixth overall in scoring with 62 points. He leads all Ice players in points (62), three-or-more point games (7), plus/minus (+22) and penalty minutes (151) and is second in goals (22) and assists (40).

Netminder Brent Zelenewich has two shutouts of his own for the Ice this season which gives the club the second most shutouts in the league behind the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (7).
BRUISIN' BOONE: With his fighting major late in the first period of Saturday's win over the Fort Worth Brahmas, Ken Boone passed former NHL and IHL tough guy Warren Rychel for the most penalty minutes in Indianapolis franchise history with a career mark of 725 minutes in the sin bin. Top Five Penalty Minute Leaders: Ken Boone (725), Warren Rychel (712), Steve McLaren (687), Ryan McGill (585), Tracy Egeland (541)
