FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI - Three players from FC Cincinnati's 2018 USL squad have been called up to national teams for matches during the upcoming FIFA window that starts later this week.
Nazmi Albadawi has earned his first-ever call-up to his familiar homeland Palestine, while Pa Konate has been recalled to Guinea and Emery Welshman has been called back up to Guyana.
Albadawi, who was born in the U.S. to Palestinian parents who emigrated to America shortly before his birth, has earned his first-ever call-up to the national team. On Nov. 20, Palestine will visit China for a friendly in Hangzou. Palestine is currently ranked No. 99 in the FIFA world rankings.
Konate earned his second call-up to Guinea after making a switch from Sweden to Guinea earlier this summer. At that time, he was called up to the country's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic on Sept. 9, but did not appear in the game. On Nov. 18, Konate and Guinea will host another AFCON qualifier against Ivory Coast in Conakry. Guinea is currently ranked No. 65 in the world.
Welshman was recalled to the Guyana National Team in October after a three-year absence. In a CONCACAF Nations League qualifier on Oct. 13, he recorded a hat trick in the team's 8-0 win over Turks and Caicos in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. After that success, he's been called up again for Guyana's qualifier at French Guyana on Nov. 20. Welshman has seven caps for Guyana, scoring six goals. Guyana is currently ranked No. 179 in the FIFA rankings.
The next time FC Cincinnati takes the field, it will be as MLS' 24th team in 2019 when the club debuts in the top professional league in the U.S. and Canada. Season tickets for the 2019 season are now on sale at fccincinnati.com/tickets. The club will unveil its MLS branding on Monday, Nov. 12.
