Chicago Stars FC News Release
CHICAGO - Three Chicago Red Stars will join the United States Women's National Team (USWNT) later this month as the team takes on Paraguay September 16 and September 21. Defenders Casey Krueger and Tierna Davidson will be joined by teammate and striker, Mallory Pugh.
This is Pugh's first call up to the USWNT roster since the team's World Cup victory in 2019. Pugh's first cap with the team came in January of 2016 against the Republic of Ireland where she also scored her first goal. In her 63 appearances with the national team, Pugh has 18 goals and 17 assists.
Davidson and Krueger were both part of the U.S. team that won a bronze medal in Tokyo earlier this summer. In Davidson's 39 appearances with the team, she has scored one goal and assisted on six others. Krueger has 36 appearances with the national team and has assisted on three goals.
Julie Ertz and Alyssa Naeher, who were also part of the Red Stars contingent in Tokyo and played large roles in the team's accomplishment, will not play in the upcoming matches due to injury. Naeher will join the national team during the international window for evaluation and rehabilitation.
The USA will take on Paraguay on Thursday, Sept. 16 at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio (7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2) and then again on Tuesday, Sept. 21 during the first-ever U.S. Soccer match at FC Cincinnati's newly opened TQL Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET on FS1 & TUDN).
