Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA (June 2, 2015) - Philadelphia WR Marco Thomas and DB Kent Richardson both received weekly AFL awards after their outstanding performances in Week 10 in the first ever Boardwalk Bowl. Thomas won J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week and Richardson won AFL Highlight of the Week. This is the third time this season Soul (9-1) players have walked away with two awards in one week.
"Saturday was a great performance by a great receiver," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel said. "We are fortunate this year to have a lot of talent at that position which only attests more to his ability."
In Saturday's game against the Las Vegas Outlaws, Thomas led the Soul receivers with eight catches for 125-yards and tied his career high of five touchdowns. Thomas leads the team's receivers overall with 1,004-yards and 21 touchdowns for the season. He is ranked third overall in the AFL for receivers. Richardson had 4.5 total tackles and one interception against the Outlaws and is being honored for this third quarter interception. Richardson is tied for third overall on the team with 29.5 tackles for the season.
The Soul face off against the New Orleans VooDoo for the second time this season on Saturday, June 6th at the Wells Fargo Center. Kickoff will be at 6 p.m.
