Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks, a proud member of the Northeast League, announced today that they completed a trade with the San Angelo (TX) Colts of the Central League, that sends the Jacks RHP Adam Thomas in exchange for a player to be named later and one of the Lumberjacks first round picks, the seventh overall in the 2004 Central League tryout camp.
At, 6-4, 190 pounds, Thomas is an imposing pitcher on the mound. For the Colts last season, he went 7-4 with a 2.62 ERA, good for sixth in the Central League. Thomas completed three of his sixteen starts, and struck out 85 in 106.1 innings, while issuing just 27 free passes.
Originally selected in the 47th round of the 1999 draft by the Anaheim Angels, the Virginia Beach native reached Single-A Rancho Cucamonga at the tail end of the 2002 season, before being released. He pitched for the Pennsylvania Road Warriors, of the Atlantic League, in 2003 before joining the Colts in May.
