FORCE FORWARD EARNS WEEKLY HONOR:
Cleveland Force forward Adauto Neto was selected as the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL Offensive Player of the for the seven-day period ending April 10. Cleveland has now received a Player of the Week selection in four of the last six weeks and 12 times throughout the season.
Neto garners his first career MISL Offensive Player of the Week honor after recording five points in two Force victories last weekend. The 24-year old native of Itabuna, Brazil tallied tow goals, including the game-winner in a 7-2 victory over the Chicago Storm on Friday night that secured Cleveland's 2005 postseason berth. Adauto closed out the weekend with a two-goal and one assist performance in an 8-7 overtime victory over the first-place Milwaukee Wave. Neto, a 2004 MISL All-Rookie selection, has scored 10 points (eight goals, two assists) over his last five games, and has now registered 29 points (18 goals, 11 assists) in 23 contests this season.
PLAYOFF BOUND:
With a 7-2 victory last Friday over the Chicago Storm, Cleveland secured its third straight post-season appearance and its 20th appearance in 26-years of the franchise. The Force can still win the regular season title by winning their final two remaining games. The regular season title would be the first title for Cleveland since the 1999-2000 when the Crunch won the American Conference Central Division crown. The Force can enter the playoffs as high as the number one seed but could also either finish as the number two or three seed. To capture the number one seed Cleveland needs to win its final two games while the Milwaukee Wave would need to drop its final two games. For the Force to capture second place they would need either two win their final two games or win one game and have the Philadelphia KiXX lose its final contest. If none of these combinations take place, Cleveland would be the third seed in the 2005 MISL postseason.
RECORD SETTING SEASON:
The 21 wins for the Force is the highest win total for the team since the 1999-2000 season when the Crunch went 27-17 and were the Central Division and American Division Champions. The Cleveland franchise has won 20 or more games in 19 of 26 seasons including five seasons in which the team won 30 or more games (3- with original Force and 2 with Crunch). The franchise posted a all-time high of 34 wins during the 1986-87 season when the Force went 34-18. The 21st win also marked the 600th all-time victory for the franchise as the team now stands at 600-500 for a .545 winning percentage.
