IFL Indoor Football League

This Week in the IFL

April 28, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

From the Commissioner-

Dear fans and readers,

This week presented a more somber version of the IFL than most of us are accustom to from such a high-energy league.  When there is a need for discipline to be enforced on one of our member teams, it takes focus away from the more important issues.  In working through a few tough days, I can tell you that I certainly glanced over a few things...or forgot about them all together. "Though sorrow may last through the night, joy comes with the morning".  Today I reflect on Sioux City earning its first win in what has been a season of sweat and effort for the Bandits.  This even made me want to celebrate with their team for a moment!  I look on an Abilene Ruff Riders team that has risen from nothing in one of the smallest markets in the league to an average of nearly 5,000 fans per game. To watch Billings pull out a victory at home with a two-point conversion in the closing seconds demonstrated how competitive the IFL is.  It occurs to me that I watched more than a half-dozen games this weekend, and each enjoyed solid-to-excellent crowds and there were some match-ups that had me biting my nails!  While I may be saddened for a while about compliance issues and our imperfection as a league and human beings, I am overwhelmed with excitement about what the good people of the IFL have created just a few weeks into our inaugural season.  We will continue to work hard and make decisions, sometimes difficult decisions, that will grow and strengthen us a league. The IFL is on track to truly be the best it can possible be and in my opinion, certainly is the premier indoor football league in America.  Thank you coaches, players, owners, and staff...but especially you, the fans, for making the IFL such a success!

Week 8 Game of the Week

Omaha (4-2) @ Colorado (3-2)

The Beef and Ice, two offensive juggernauts, square off in the IFL Game of the Week. Omaha is coming off an impressive 70 point performance against Odessa last week, vaulting them into the top position in the United Conference Central Division. Quarterback James McNear has been giving opposing defenses nightmares as a dual running and passing threat, and is averaging over 200 yards of total offense per game.

Colorado is riding a three game winning streak heading into this weekends match-up. In last weekends 19 point victory over Alaska, four different players found the endzone including two long TD receptions by WR Justin Gallas. The talented receiver has caught a total of six TD passes this season and is averaging ten yards per catch.

If you like high scoring, offensive minded, football then be sure to catch this match-up of IFL elite. Fans can watch all games live on the B2 Network by logging on to www.b2now.com and for more information on these or any league topics, visit www.GoIFL.com or contact the IFL league office @ 804-643-PASS (7277).
