Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Cedar Rapids Rough Riders scored four third period goals Friday, including two in the final minute with the Black Hawk net empty, to defeat Waterloo 7-4.
The Hawks led just 2:20 into the game on a Jan-Mikael Juutilainen goal, but Cedar Rapids scored the next three. Waterloo answered with three of their own, starting at 10:51 of the second when Brett Barta put in a powerplay rebound. Billy Maday tied the game less than 90 seconds later, and Ryan Cramer put the Hawks back in front with a powerplay goal at 17:38.
The Rough Riders four-goal third period outburst began early with a powerplay strike from Brett Dickinson. Mike Seidel scored the game-winner at 12:26 of the third, before the empty-netters.
The teams meet for a rematch Saturday in a game at Young Arena that is all but sold out. The first 500 fans will receive a souvenir puck, and the first 1,000 fans get thundersticks, all courtesy of Next Generation Wireless, your authorized U.S. Cellular provider.
