St. Paul Saints News Release
SAINT PAUL, MN (March 29, 2007) - Humor, quick wit, great personality and "the look." Sounds like something you would see on a dating site, but these are just some of the requirements for the next Master of Ceremonies - Public Address Announcer for the Saint Paul Saints. Those who believe they have these qualities should join the open casting call on Saturday, April 14.
Comedy Sportz will host the Saints search for the next Master of Ceremonies, presented by The Onion, to replace Rusty Kath, who joined the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The open call begins promptly at 11:00 a.m. and those interested should send a resume and headshot to Saints Promotions Director Jack Weatherman at jweatherman@saintsbaseball.com or to:
Saint Paul Saints Baseball Club
Attn: Jack Weatherman
1771 Energy Park Drive
St. Paul. MN 55108.
All qualified candidates will then receive a time slot for the April 14 audition.
Each contestant will do a 90-second prepared comedy routine, but no background in comedy is required. There are a total of three rounds, with finalists handling their own Saints exhibition game, during the final round.
"We are looking for someone with a lot of enthusiasm and has a presence around a crowd of people," said Saints Executive Vice President and General Manager Derek Sharrer. "Our fans have come to expect a certain level of performance from this position. Rusty and his predecessors have set the bar very high, but we also know there are some extremely talented people in this area. Rusty was proof that if you have the talent, big things can come from this job."
Comedy Sportz is located on the corner of West Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue South at Calhoun Square in Uptown. Candidates may show up on the day of the event even if they haven't sent in a resume and headshot, but sending both is recommended. For more information about auditions or the Master of Ceremonies position contact Jack Weatherman at 651-644-3517.
