Newport Gulls 13 - Ocean State Waves 5

L - Nick Payero 1-5 (Seton Hall): 4.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
The Newport Gulls (26-12) put up double digits against the Ocean State Waves (19-19) in a home-run frenzy.
The Gulls opened the scoring when Alec Makarewicz (East Carolina) led off the third for a with a solo homer for a 1-0 lead, but the Waves caught up and took the lead with home runs by right fielder Jake Studley (Connecticut) and center fielder Khyree Miller (Winthrop).
Newport continued the slugfest with six runs in the fourth, including a grand slam by catcher Jacob Burley (Brown) as the Gulls took a 7-2 lead.
Ocean State gained back some ground immediately after with three runs after a single by Studley brought in second baseman Creek Robertson (Southern Mississippi) and two sacrifice flies got catcher Blaine Lidsky (Stonehill) and shortstop Max Johnson (Indiana) to home plate to condense the Newport lead to 7-5.
The Gulls exploded with another five runs to put some distance between themselves and Ocean State with yet another home run by shortstop Joshua Kuroda-Grauer (Rutgers New Brunswick) for three of the runs and a single by Burley bringing in two more runners would eventually end the scoring to 13-5.
The Gulls try to build back their win streak with a home matchup against the Mystic Schooners (20-17) today at 6:35pm as the Waves try to get back onto the positive side of .500 in a road game with the Winnipesaukee Muskrats (15-20) at 6pm.
North Shore Navigators 5 - Keene Swamp Bats 0

L - Grant Besser 1-2 (Florida Southwestern State): 2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Alumni Field in Keene, N.H.- The North Shore Navigators (10-27) posted a 5-0 shutout over the Keene Swamp Bats (14-23) for their tenth win of the season.
The Navigators got on the board first in the second with a sacrifice fly by right fielder Stan DeMartinis III (Bryant) that got Nathan Blasick to home plate for a 1-0 score.
Both teams were at a stalemate until the top of the eighth where the Navigators broke loose with three runs with two more sacrifice flies by first baseman Connor Bertsch (Dartmouth) and center fielder Jake McElroy (Holy Cross) and a single by DeMartinis to move up to 4-0. North Shore punched one final run in the ninth when designated hitter Justin Cassella (Elon) singled to bring in this baseman Jack Penney (Notre Dame) to end the game 5-0.
Keene's designated hitter Jackson Ross (Florida Atlantic) was 1-for-2 at the plate, while North Shore's Max Tarlin (Endicott) and Keene's Parker Murphy (Jacksonville) pitched perfect innings.
North Shore takes the momentum back home where the face the number one Vermont Mountaineers (30-8) today at 6:35pm as the Swamp Bats take on the Martha's Vineyard Sharks (24-14) at 7:05pm at the Shark Tank.
Bristol Blues 5 - Mystic Schooners 0
W - Reed Mascolo 1-1 (Wake Forest): 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
L - Ken Turner 0-1 (Bryant): 2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER (4 R), 1 BB, 1 K
Muzzy Field in Bristol C.T. - The Bristol Blues (27-10) defeated the Mystic Schooners (20-17) in a shutout effort.
After Bristol's Reed Mascolo and Mystic's Reid Easterly (Yale) shut down the opposing offense for the first three innings, the Blues struck first in the bottom of the fourth when two runs scored on a single from Chaz Myers (Pacific), and an error by Mystic on defense. Bristol doubled its lead in the fifth on a two out, two run single from Ryan Wilson (Davidson) to make it 4-0. The game's final run was scored in the sixth inning when Myers scored on yet another error.
Bristol's pitching combination of Mascolo, Alec Couture (Hartford), Michael Thomas Morrissey (Bryant) and Luke Garofalo (Central Connecticut State) held the Mystic offense to zero runs on the night. The Schooners top performer was Michael Bello (Auburn) who went 2-4.
The Blues will head North to face the Sanford Mainers Friday at 6:30 p.m. The Schooners will travel to Rhode Island to face the Newport Gulls Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Martha's Vineyard Sharks 13 - Vermont Mountaineers 7
W - Zachary Cleasas 3-1 (Wheaton): 5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 B, 2 K
L - Michael Hutchins 0-1 (St Lawrence): 2.2 IP, 8 H, 10 ER, 6 BB 3 K
Vineyard Baseball Park in Oak Bluffs, Mass.- The Martha's Vineyard Sharks (24-14) cruised past the Vermont Mountaineers (30-8) with a 13-7 win.
The Sharks came out hot with six runs in the first inning for a quick 6-0 lead. The effort was highlighted by right fielder Ben Nardi (Catholic U of America) and shortstop Cavan Brady (Wheaton), who brought home two runners each off of singles.
The Mountaineers cut into the deficit in the third when first baseman Mark Trotta (William & Mary) and shortstop Santino Rosso (Hofstra) hit singles themselves, but the Sharks put together another multi-run inning with singles by third baseman Michael Snyder (Washington) and first baseman Danny Crossen (Northeastern), a double by second baseman Dorian Gonzalez (Miami), and a fielder's choice allowing Gonzalez to step on home plate to bump the score to 10-2. The Sharks continued to rack up the score with three more runs in the seventh with a homer by left fielder Aiden Tierney (Mt St Mary's) to set them up 13-2.
Vermont rallied in the eighth in an attempt to comeback with center fielder Jack Cone's (William & Mary) single snagging two runs by Trotta and Rosso Third baseman Stephen DiTomaso (George Washington) smashed a bomb for three runs to move up to 13-7, but time ran out on the Mountaineer's comeback attempt.
The Sharks stay home to face the Keene Swamp Bats (14-23) today at 7:05pm, while the Mountaineers look to keep moving towards taking the most wins record when they face the North Shore Navigators (10-27) at 6:35pm.
