Goodall Park in Sanford, Maine- The Sanford Mainers (13-15) outdueled the Danbury Westerners (12-17), 1-0 in a well-pitched game.
The only run did not come until the top of the eighth when third baseman David Bermudez (Manhattan) smacked a single down center field for center fielder Calvin Hewett (Vanderbilt) to run home for the 1-0 score. Prior to then, it was a showdown on the mound between both teams.
Mainers pitcher Bryce Afthim (Southern Maine) and Danbury pitcher Braden Quinn (Connecticut) were at a stalemate as Quinn only allowed four hits with two walks and struck out nine batters while Afthim allowed three and struck out three. Brady Afthim took things into his own hands in the final three innings to clinch the victory for the Mainers by striking out five batters.
The Mainers take a short break to prepare for another home matchup against the Keene Swamp Bats (10-17) on Tuesday at 6:30pm as the Westerners look to turn things around with a showdown with the Winnipesaukee Muskrats (11-16) tomorrow at 6pm.
Winnipesaukee Muskrats 13 - Mystic Schooners 6

Dodd Memorial Stadium in Norwich, CT- The Winnipesaukee Muskrats (11-16) took down the Mystic Schooners (16-11) thanks to late-inning success.
Heading into the fifth inning, Mystic and Winnipesaukee were knotted at four. Over the next five innings, the Muskrats scored seven runs. Winnipesaukee scored two in the top of the fifth through a Grayson Preslar (North Carolina Asheville) single. Mystic responded, scoring one run in the bottom of the inning, but the Muskrats' offense didn't slow down. Winnipesaukee added three in the sixth, with Brady Day (Kansas St) and a wild pitch putting the Muskrats up four.
The away team tacked on two more runs in the seventh and another in the eighth and ninth. Jacob Corson (Bucknell), Brendan Concannon (Paris JC) and Brady Day all had RBIs over the last three innings.
Mystic took the lead in the first quickly, scoring in the bottom of the first off of a Mason LaPlante (Yale) single. The Muskrats added four in the second to take a 4-1 lead. One Schooners run in the second and two in the fourth tied it at four before the Muskrats scored seven of the last nine runs.
Despite the loss, Mystic outhit Winnipesaukee thirteen to ten. Mason LaPlante and Logan Allen (Bryant) both had three hits for the Schooners while Jacob Corson and Brendan Concannon totaled three hits for the Muskrats.
Mystic looks to get back on track when it travels to Martha's Vineyard (15-12) today at 7:05 p.m. Winnipesaukee hosts Danbury (12-17) at 6:00 p.m.
Upper Valley Nighthawks 11 - North Shore Navigators 5
W - Matthew Adams 1-0 (Southern Mississippi): 4.1 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
L - JD Ogden 0-3 (Colombia): 1.0 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
Maxfield Sports Complex in Hartford, VT - The Upper Valley Nighthawks (14-14) dominated for an 11-5 victory over the North Shore Navigators (7-21).
The Nighthawks were in control from the jump. With one out in the bottom of the first inning, Jonathan Hogart (Louisiana Tech) walked. Max Grant (Canisius) followed that up with a single, then William Sullivan (Troy) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Clay Stearns (Troy) drove in the game's first run on a walk, then Nicholas Wang (Boston College) drove two runs in on a single. After Luca Trigiani (St. Joseph's) walked to reload the bases, Nicholas Fazzari (Charleston Southern) hit a 2-run double to make it 5-0.
Upper Valley kept its foot on the gas pedal into the second inning. The Nighthawks loaded the bases with one out, then Hogart scored on a passed ball. Wang hit another 2-run single, and the next run was scored on a fielder's choice that gave the Nighthawks a 9-1 lead. Upper Valley kept a large lead for the rest of the game en route to its 11-5 victory.
Nathan Blasick (West Virginia) provided some highlights for the Navigators, as he hit a solo home run in the second inning as well as a 2-run double in the fifth inning. Max Viera (Northeastern) and Stan DeMartinis III (Bryant) also provided RBI singles for North Shore.
The Nighthawks will stay at home today for a 6 p.m. matchup with the Bristol Blues. The Navigators will stay on the road today for a 6:35 p.m. game against the Newport Gulls.

L - Brian Strange 2-2 (Mineral Area JC): 3.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
Muzzy Field in Bristol, CT - The Bristol Blues (21-7) extended their lead in the West Division with a 6-1 victory over the Valley Blue Sox (14-15).
The first run of the game was scored with runners on the corners and one out when Jay Harry (Penn State) went to steal second base. He forced a throw, and on that throw AJ Gaich (Yale) scored from third base. Two innings later, Ryan Wilson (Davidson) and Griffin Arnone (Elon) walked and singled respectively to lead off the third. An error and a Derek Tenney (Hartford) sacrifice fly allowed both of them to score. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Wilson, Arnone, and Tenney loaded the bases, which led to Calvin McCall (Rhode Island) hitting a 2-run single to make it 5-0.
Bristol's pitching staff kept Valley in check for the entirety of the game. The Blue Sox's lone run came off a Michael Casaleggio (Palm Beach Atlantic) RBI single.
The Blues will be on the road today for a 6 p.m. matchup with the Upper Valley Nighthawks. The Blue Sox will be back at home for a 6:35 p.m. divisional matchup with the North Adams SteepleCats.
Ocean State Waves 4 - Martha's Vineyard Sharks 3

Vineyard Baseball Park in Oak Bluffs, MA - The Ocean State Waves (15-15) took down the Martha's Vineyard Sharks (15-12) despite a late comeback attempt.
The Sharks scored first in the bottom of the second when Michael Snyder (Washington) led off the inning with a single and later scored on a dropped third strike. After that hiccup, Ocean State pitchers Jacob Kush, Justin Long (Rice), and Jack Erbeck (Fairfield) held the Vineyard offense at bay.
The Waves began their scoring in the top of the fourth on a solo home run by Brodey Heaton (Belmont) and Ocean State took the lead later in the inning on a wild pitch. That lead was extended in the seventh on a two-run home run off the bat of Peter Ciuffreda (Lafayette) to make it 4-1 Ocean State.
With the Sharks trailing by three in the bottom of the ninth, Vineyard began threatening with the first three batters reaching to load the bases. After two runs were scored simultaneously with the first two outs of the inning, Ryan Gleason closed it out to pick up the save and secure the win for the Waves.
The Waves will have an off-day Monday before returning to Old Mountain Field on Tuesday to take on the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. The Sharks will remain on the island as they also take on the Schooners, this time on Monday at 7:05 p.m.
