Montreal Impact News Release

SUNRISE, Florida - The Montreal Impact plays its second pre-season game in Florida, Wednesday at 7:30 pm in Lauderdale Lakes, near Sunrise, against a Haitian selection. The matchup, which was supposed to be played Thursday, will be played 24 hours earlier.

"It will be another great occasion to continue our preparation," said Impact head coach John Limniatis. "We want to be as prepared as possible when we kick off the season. The players have to battle for their place and have to take advantage of the situation."

"With less than a month before our first game of the campaign we are taking every game and every training session very seriously," noted Quebec midfielder and Haïtian native Félix Brillant. "It will be one more game on an exterior surface that we will have played. Every game that we play gives us the chance to upgrade our level of progression."

For a player trying out with the team like forward Massimo Di Ioia, it's a great opportunity to prove himself.

"It will be another good test for the team and myself," said Di Ioia, who played with the Impact in 2006 and 2007. "I think that the coaching staff is happy with my progress but it is up to me to show that I can help the team win. I have to keep working hard."

The Impact will be playing its 12th exhibition game since the beginning of training camp, which started January 7. In the last game, Sunday in Sunrise, the Impact demonstrated an excellent performance against the Honduran national team, which is ranked 40th in the FIFA World standings, but lost 2-0.

The Impact will kick off its regular season April 18, in Charleston and its home opener Saturday, May 9, as they host the Rochester Rhinos at Saputo Stadium. Season tickets are currently available by calling 514-328-3668.
