ONE MONTH... Until the Fire opens training camp for the 2005 season. Camp will open on March 17 and the Fire will open the 2005 season on April 9 at the Rio Grande Valley Dorados. The home opener will be Friday April 15 at 7:30 against the South Georgia Wildcats. AFL ON NBC... This week's AFL on NBC match-up will kick-off at Noon and feature the Philadelphia Soul (2-1) and former Fire DS Arkee Thompson at the New Orleans Voodoo (2-1). Thompson recorded another interception in the Soul's 59 â 48 victory over the Nashville Kats. Thompson was named ADT Defensive Player of the Game last week. Thompson is currently sixth in the AFL in tackles (20) and tied for third in interceptions (2), including one interception returned for a touchdown.
OTHER FIRE PLAYERS... In addition to Arkee the Fire still has five more players in the AFL. Jabir Walker is off the injured list and with the Colorado Crush. Jason Ferguson is on the active roster with the Dallas Desperados. Anthony Payton is on the Las Vegas Gladiators practice squad. Takuya Furutani is on the Philadelphia Soul's international roster and Sura Wantanbe in on the New York Dragons international squad.
