The Avengers Food Drive
June 7, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Los Angeles Avengers News Release
LOS ANGELES - Before Avenger fans took their seats at STAPLES Center to watch their team beat the defending ArenaBowl champion Chicago Rush on Saturday night, they donated non-perishable food items to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank to help families in need.
Avenger fans brought more than 600 pounds of food, which will be able to help hundreds of families in the Los Angeles area.
"We know Avenger fans understand the importance of such an event and have opened their hearts by bringing canned food to STAPLES Center over the years," vice president of communication John Tamanaha said. "The Avengers are proud to host this event with the L.A. Regional Foodbank and look forward to doing it again next year."
Each Avenger fan who donated food was entered into a raffle to win four 2008 season tickets and a football autographed by the team.
For more information on how you can give the gift of food throughout the year, call the Los Angeles Foodbank at (323) 234-3030 or visit http://www.lafightshunger.org/.
The Avengers are currently 7-6. The team's next game will be on Monday, June 11, when they play the Arizona Rattlers at 7 p.m. (PT) on ESPN2.
Pro-rated Avenger season tickets are on sale now at 888-AVENGERS or www.laavengers.com. Single-game tickets, which range in price from $10 to $69.50, are also on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com and the STAPLES Center box office.
