The af2 league office assigns four more players to Pioneers 2006 roster

Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are pleased to announce the addition of four more players to the teams upcoming 2006 roster.

Michael Della Pella was a four-year starter as defensive tackle at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. In four years he racked up 134 tackles (63 unassisted) with 21 tackles for a loss and seven sacks. Della Pella also tallied eight pass break ups, three fumble returns, two interceptions and five blocked kicks. In 2004 as co-captain of his team, Della Pella was named Defensive MVP of a team that led all of college football in total defense with 195.5 yards per game and was ranked in the top 5 in Division III in three other categories. During his tenure, Muhlenberg shared the Centennial Conference all four years and played in the NCAA Division III tournament in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Afumiya McFadden, a Delaware State product, finished his career in 2004. While at Delaware State, McFadden tallied 198 rushing attempts for 701 yards and six touchdowns as well as 28 receptions for 190 yards. McFadden graduated from Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia. There he was an All-Philadelphia Public School selection his junior and senior year. He rushed for over 1,400 yards his senior year and 1,100 his junior year.

Phil Washington will be returning to the Pioneers for his third season. Washington played two seasons as a receiver with the Kutztown University Golden Bears. In 2000-01 he racked up 51 receptions for 752 yards and 12 touchdowns in only 17 games. Washington transferred to Kutztown after red shirting in 1999 at Division I Richmond.

Mike Daniels played free safety and whip linebacker for the Virginia Tech Hokies. In three seasons as a Hokie, Daniels competed in 37 games racking up 106 tackles (50 unassisted). Daniels set a Fairfax High School record for 18 career pass interceptions in his four varsity seasons there. His senior year he was named Liberty District Player of the Year and went on to earn All-District, All-Region and All-State honors.
