Wilmington Hammerheads FC News Release
TORONTO - Toronto FC announced Wednesday that the club has recalled forward Jordan Hamilton from its USL PRO affiliate club, Wilmington Hammerheads FC, and has been assigned on loan to Portuguese Segunda Liga side Clube Desportivo Trofense.
"We felt this was an opportunity for Jordan to continue his development in a professional environment outside North America and to test himself against a new type of competition," said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. "Jordan was impressive during his time at Wilmington and we are confident this loan will continue his ascension as a footballer."
Hamilton, 18, has appeared in 11 matches for Wilmington Hammerheads FC registering five goals and two assists, while logging 453 minutes.
"This is an exciting time for Jordan and we are very happy for him," said Wilmington Hammerheads FC General Manager Jason Arnold. "We are pleased that our club was able to contribute to his development, we thank him for everything he has contributed to our club this season and wish him the best in Portugal."
He also appeared in a friendly match for Toronto FC against Wilmington Hammerheads FC on June 18 where he started the match and played the full 90 minutes. Hamilton originally signed with Toronto FC on January 9, 2014, becoming the ninth player in club history to sign for the first team from the Academy. Hamilton was named to Toronto FC's 18-man squad three times this season. He made his Toronto FC and Major League Soccer debut on April 12 against Colorado, coming on as a substitute in the 89th minute. Most recently, he appeared in Toronto FC's July 23 friendly versus Tottenham Hotspur, logging 45 minutes and scoring one of the Reds' two goals against the English Premier League club.
