Texas Tornado Announce Front Office Moves

FRISCO, TEXAS - (March 16, 2011) - The Texas Tornado, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce that Ben Weber has joined the organization as Vice-President, responsible for day-to-day operations. Ben will work closely with Tornado Head Coach Tony Curtale, the Tornado staff, the NAHL and the Dallas Stars to continue to build the franchise as one of the premier operations in junior hockey.

Ben brings 12 years of hockey business experience, most recently with the Phoenix Roadrunners of the ECHL where he served as Vice President and Alternate Governor. Ben was responsible for the day-to-day operations, including working directly with the team owners, who were the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. Prior to the Roadrunners, Ben worked for the Houston Aeros of the AHL, owned by the Minnesota Wild of the NHL, as the Director of Corporate Sales and Youth Hockey. He also worked with the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes in Group Sales and also served as the Youth Hockey Manager and prior to Phoenix was the Director of Ticket Sales for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks of AHL.

"Ben brings many years of experience in a leadership level, understands how to sell hockey in the non- traditional markets, in major markets, has a passion for the hockey business having played the game and has worked to sell hockey at the grass roots level. We look forward to Ben moving our business forward and creating solid relationships in the North Dallas market place", stated Gary Gelinas, Executive Vice-President of Consolidated Sports, owners of the Tornado.

The Tornado also announced that Shannon Smith has been promoted to Manager of Ticket Sales and Operations. Shannon joined the Tornado two years ago, holding a wide range of responsibilities and has been an important and valuable employee on the operations and business side.

The Texas Tornado, proud members of the 27-team North American Hockey League play at the state-of-the-art Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, which now offers more seating, more amenities and more great action featuring the players that are the future of hockey. Season Tickets for the 2011-12 season are now on sale, starting as low as $80. The Tornado will also serve as host of the 2012 NAHL Robertson Cup National Championship tournament. Since their inception in 1999, the Texas Tornado has set the standard for excellence for hockey for players ages 21 and under in the United States. Besides their three straight National Championships from 2004-2006, the Tornado has won seven NAHL Regular Season Division titles and had seven straight 40+ win seasons from 1999-2007. Since 1999, the Tornado have developed and moved on over 120 players in ten years onto NHL, NCAA and professional teams.
