Rockford Thunder News Release

LEAGUE CITY, Texas - The Texas Thunder of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) will host Girl Scout Night on Friday, July 7, 2006 when the team hosts the Connecticut Brakettes as announced today by team general manager Aaron M. Moore.

The special rate is being promoted through the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, the area council which includes 25 counties around southeast Texas.

"We see this as an opportunity for young girls to develop, not only an interest in sports, but also to find great role models in their community," said Moore. "The girls will also be able to earn some of their awards and badges, in part, through this special evening."

Not only will the young ladies be able to watch the game for just $5, they will also receive the opportunity to participate in special promotions. The girls can attend a Q&A session with members of the Thunder, as well as participate in several games and contests.

"We are thrilled the Texas Thunder have invited us," said San Jacinto Council program manager Melinda Gaskill. "We always like opportunities where girls can see positive role models in fields they may be interested in pursuing."

Tickets for all Girl Scouts and their families will be just $5 each and troops are encouraged to come in their troop t-shirts or Girl Scout Pin. Tickets can be purchased at the gate, but it is recommended that tickets are purchased in advance to ensure enough time to participate in the pre-game festivities.
