Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - The Texas Legends avenged last night's dramatic defeat to the Erie BayHawks by using a solid second-half performance to nab the win 96-90 at Tullio Arena on Saturday night.
The BayHawks jumped out to an early nine point first quarter lead only to see Texas storm back and hold a two point halftime lead, 44-42.
The third quarter belonged to the Legends as they put together a 14-2 run and Dominique Johnson notched 12 points in the frame to help the Legends take a 73-65 lead heading in to fourth quarter.
Erie would make a push to retake the lead by narrowing their deficit to two points at 82-80 with 4:19 to play. But consecutive three-pointers by Johnson and Vance Cooksey extended the Texas lead back to eight and the visitors would manage to fend off the home team the rest of the way.
Texas improved to 8-12 as Booker Woodfox lead the way with 23 points and Johnson added 19. Sean Williams contributed a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Erie was lead by Devin Green with 20 points followed by Tirrell Baines and Chris Daniels each netting 14 apiece. Mike Gerrity dished out a game-high 11 assists to go along with his two points.
The BayHawks will travel to Portland, Maine for a two-game weekend series against the Maine Red Claws on Friday, January 20 and Sunday, January 22. The Legends head home for a five-game series starting on Wednesday against the Tulsa 66ers.
