Texas' Sean Williams Signs with Boston Celtics

NEW YORK, April 19, 2012 - The Boston Celtics today signed Texas Legends' forward Sean Williams for the record 55th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2011-12 NBA Development League season. Williams joins more than 100 NBA players with NBA D-League experience currently on 2011-12 rosters.

Williams (6-10, 235, Boston College) appeared in 27 games for the Legends this season, both on assignment from the Dallas Mavericks and as a Legends player. He averaged 15.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 28.8 minutes, scoring in double figures 20 times.

Originally selected in the first round (17th overall) in the 2007 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets, Williams returns to the NBA having appeared in 134 career games, most recently with the Mavericks earlier this season. He owns NBA career averages of 4.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 14.4 minutes.

Williams is expected to join the Celtics today and be available tonight when the team travels to play the Atlanta Hawks.
