Tenacious Mariners Battle Back, Defeat Astros 9-8 in the 10th

Pulaski Mariners News Release
Pulaski, VA- The tenacity throughout the M's lineup was abundant tonight as they fought all the way back from a 7-0 deficit ultimately winning 9-8 in 10th, thanks to a sharply hit walk-off single by LF Phillips Castillo.
After looking rather unfortunate through the first four innings, the Mariners caught a break in the bottom of the fifth when they put together a five run two-out-rally that included a 3RBI bases clearing double by Tyler Marlette (4-5, 3 2B, 3 RBI) followed by back-to-back RBI doubles from Franklin Diaz (1-4, 2B) and Martin Peguero (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI).
Trailing 6-8 heading into the bottom of the ninth, Marlette came through yet again for the Mariners drilling a leadoff double over Astros CF D'Andre Toney's head. Two batters later, Dario Pizzano added to his team leading batting average by knocking Marlette in with a pinch-hit, RBI double. Not be outdone, Martin Peguero (3-4, 2B, BB, 2 RBI) followed by collecting his third hit of the night on a game tying single.
With the thought of last weeks 23 inning game that was ironically tied 8-8 going into the tenth extremely fresh in everyone's mind, Phillips Castillo eliminated the apprehension by ripping a walk-off single bringing in Reggie Lawson (2-6) for the game winning run.
Pulaski will travel to Johnson City Tennessee tomorrow to begin a three game series against the Cardinals and will be returning to Historic Calfee Park to take on the Danville Braves Monday, August 13.
