Batista, Blasik lead Astros to win over Mariners

Pulaski, VA - The Greeneville Astros got back on the winning track on Wednesday night against the Pulaski Mariners at Calfee Park. Led by Jean Batista and Brian Blasik, the Astros scored nine runs on 15 hits on their way to a 9-4 win.

Batista went two-for-four with four RBI while Blasik was four-for-four and scored three runs. Of Greeneville's 15 hits, four were doubles giving them a league-best 100 on the season.

With two outs in the first inning, Brian Blasik got the Astros going when he picked up his first hit of the night. After moving over to second on a wild pitch, Blasik scored on a Michael Martinez RBI-double to put the Astros up 1-0.

Over the next two innings, the Mariners picked up a run in each when Phillips Castillo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Jordy Lara had a RBI-single. However, the Astros had a four-run third inning to maintain the lead.

Angel Ibanez had a two-run double, Jean Batista hit a RBI-double and Ariel Ovando connected on a RBI single. Batista's double was his 18th of the season and his seventh in his last 10 games.

The Astros added to their 5-2 lead in the fifth inning with a Batista sacrifice fly to score one run and Ovando got his second RBI-single to score another and push Greeneville's lead to 7-2.

From that point on, the clubs swapped two runs apiece. Pulaski got solo homers from Jabari Henry in the sixth and Tyler Marlette in the ninth. Meanwhile, the Astros got RBI-singles from Batista and Terrell Joyce in the seventh.

Francis Ramirez (5-3) pitched 5.0 innings, gave up two runs on five hits, walked two and had four strikeouts as he earned his team-leading fifth win of the season for Greeneville.
