Fort Wayne, IN - Fort Wayne TinCaps OF Blake Tekotte was named the Midwest League Hitter of the Week on Monday. During the past week, he torched the opposition to the tune of a .538 batting average (7-for-13) with two home runs, six runs scored and eight RBIs.

"We were pround to have four key players promoted to higher levels this week, and it seems like other guys like Blake have stepped it up to keep the winning going," TinCaps president Mike Nutter said. "Blake's hitting has really come around lately and his defense in center field has been sensational all year."

Tekotte, 22, was selected by the Padres in the 3rd round of the 2008 draft out of the University of Miami (FL). He is batting .348 in June with five of his nine home runs coming in the month. Tekotte brings a 10-game hitting streak into Tuesday's series opener at Dayton.

The TinCaps return to Parkview Field on Saturday, July 4th for an Independence Day tilt against the Great Lakes Loons (Class-A Los Angeles Dodgers), which opens a four-game homestand. To order tickets, call (260) 482-6400, visit TinCaps.com or visit the Parkview Field box office at the corner of Ewing and Brackenridge Streets in downtown Fort Wayne.
