Teddy Bear Toss at USA Hockey Arena
November 29, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
U.S. National Team News Release
PLYMOUTH, Mich. - USA Hockey's National Team Development Program will host its annual Teddy Bear Toss Game on Saturday, Dec. 3, at USA Hockey Arena. The game will pit the U.S. National Under-18 Team against the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League.
The first time the U18s score Saturday, fans are encouraged to throw new stuffed toys on the ice. The NTDP - with the help of event sponsor Orin Jewelers - will donate the toys to the Plymouth Community United Way.
Fans have the option of purchasing the stuffed toys Saturday at USA Hockey Arena for a donation of $5.
"The Annual Teddy Bear Toss partnership with USA Hockey is a great opportunity for fans to get involved and support the community," said Plymouth Community United Way president Marie Morrow. "By bringing a teddy bear, or purchasing a teddy bear at the game, you can provide comfort to a child or senior citizen. Bears collected on Saturday will benefit local agencies serving children and seniors."
For every stuffed animal bought or donated, fans will earn a chance to win a party suite for 20 and $100 food credit for the suite during the 2016-17 regular season.
"All of us at the NTDP are looking for ways to make an impact in our local community and we think this is an excellent opportunity to give back to those in need during the holiday season," said NTDP senior director of operations Scott Monaghan.
Tickets to the game are available at the USA Hockey Arena box office located at 14900 Beck Road in Plymouth, Michigan, by calling (734) 453-8400 or by visiting USAHockeyArena.com.
ABOUT THE NTDP: In 1996, USA Hockey launched a new initiative called the National Team Development Program, originally based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The goal of this full-time development program is to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice.
