Traverse City North Stars News Release
ANN ARBOR - The North Division dropped a 4-1 decision to Team South on Sunday in the opening day of action at the NAHL Top Prospects all- star event at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube, and did so with one of their own guarding the opposition's net.
Steve Bolton, who came to the North Stars from Amarillo just ahead of the NAHL trading deadline, had already been selected to the team South roster before being dealt; He stopped 16 shots in platoon duty for the South squad on Sunday.
Traverse City's North Division all-star entries - Tim Opie, Michael Szmatula, and Travis White - combined for seven shots but did not record a point. The North's lone tally came from the Motor City line of Steve Brancheau (goal), RJ Kleiman, and Cody Wydo late in the second period.
Team North will face off against the West all-stars on Monday afternoon at 3L30 p.m. The heavily-scouted event wraps on Tuesday with the North and Central prospects clashing at 12:15 p.m.
Bolton, Opie, Szmatula, White, and the rest of the North Stars travel to Flint to take on the Warriors this Wednesday before returning to Centre ICE Arena next weekend for a two-game series with Motor City beginning on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. and concluding Sunday (Feb. 27) afternoon at 1 p.m.
