
South, West Open NAHL Top Prospects with Wins

ANN ARBOR, MICH. - Team South (1-0) and Team West (1-0) skated to wins on the first day of the three-day North American Hockey League (NAHL) Top Prospects Tournament on Sunday at the Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Forward Nate Milam (Topeka RoadRunners) rang up a goal and assisted on Justin Hussar's (Topeka) game-winning marker in Team South's 4-1 triumph over Team North. Defenseman Chris Leone (Wichita Falls Wildcats) added two assists in the win.
South goaltender Eric Rohrkemper (Topeka) stopped all 19 shots he faced, and Steve Bolton (Traverse City North Stars) made 16 saves.

In Team West's 6-2 victory over Team Central, Blake Huppert (Alaska Avalanche) connected for the game-winning goal and two assists, while forwards Brett Lubanski (Kenai River Brown Bears), DJ Vandercook (Wenatchee Wild), Matt Friese (Alaska) and Dakota Mason (Dawson Creek) all fashioned two-point nights.
West goaltender Landon Peterson (Alaska) turned aside all 12 shots he faced, while Andrew Walsh (Dawson Creek Rage) made seven saves.

On the second day of the tournament, Team North will face off against Team West (3:30 p.m. local time) and Team South will play Team Central (6:30 p.m.).

At the Top Prospects Tournament, which runs from Feb. 20-22, four teams - Team Central, Team North, Team South and Team West - are playing a three-game round robin.

NAPHL championship matchups set for Monday
TROY, MICH. - The championship games in the three divisions of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) Championship Tournament Series will be played tomorrow at the Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Mich.
In the 18U (Midget Major) division, the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders will play the DC Capitals at 10 a.m. local time.
The California Titans will face off against the Pikes Peak Miners in the 16U (Midget Minor) division at 9 a.m.
In the 14U (Bantam Major) division, the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders will play the Motor City Metal Jackets at 11 a.m.
All three games will be broadcast live via the Internet through http://nahl.fasthockey.com/login.php.
At the Championship Tournament Series, the top eight teams at the conclusion of the regular season in each the 18U and 16U divisions are competing in the Gold Championship Series to play for an NAPHL championship. All six teams are competing in the Gold Series in the 14U division.
The remaining eight teams from each the 18U and 16U brackets played in their own division's Silver Consolation Series.

Team Black downs Team Red at NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament opener
ANN ARBOR, MICH. - Team Black doubled up Team Red, 4-2, in the first game of the two-day North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) Top Prospects Tournament on Sunday at the Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Forward Justin Short (Queen City Steam) notched a pair of goals for Team Black, including the game-winner, with forwards Nathan Chasteen (Peoria Mustangs) and Mitchell McPherson (Peoria) scoring the other Black markers.
Forwards Bo Eastman (St. Louis Jr. Blues) and Ryan Hogland (St. Louis) connected for the Team Red goals.
In goal, Team Black's Matt Leon (Queen City) made 11 saves on 13 shots, while Collin Lemay (Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins) stopped all 15 shots he faced.
