North Shore Navigators News Release
Lynn, Massachusetts- The season may not have started yet but the fans for the North Shore Navigators already have something to cheer about. Two-time Navigator MVP Tim Hendricks is returning to Fraser Field for another season. The signing was announced late last week as the Navigators begin to fill their roster for the upcoming season.
"When we had the chance to bring Tim back we jumped at the opportunity," said General Manager Bill Terlecky. "As crucial as it is to have Tim's bat in the middle of our lineup, it is equally as important to have his presence around the ballpark. He is well-liked by teammates and fans alike and I am glad to have him back.
Hendricks, who is currently a junior, had a monster year for the Benedictine University Eagles last season as he posted a .422 average while scoring 55 runs, hitting 19 doubles, 3 triples, 4 homeruns, 30 RBIs, stealing 18 bases, and slugging .622 en route to earning the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference's Position Player of the Year award and as well as being named a Division III second -team All-American. This season Hendricks is already hitting .319 with 10 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 homerun, 10 RBIS, and 6 stolen bases.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Tim back to the Navigators," said Head Coach Jon Cahill. "His attitude, concentration, and effort levels never shift gears over the long season. Tim's teammates looked up to him because of the effort he presented every single day. Any coach would be fortunate to have a young man like Tim on their roster, the Navigators have been extremely fortunate."
Hendricks has been invaluable to the Navigators' lineup as he has won the MVP both during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. During his tenure with the Navigators, Hendricks' batting average is .340 and he is also averaging 7 doubles, 2 triples, 1 homerun, 26 RBIs, 14 walks, and 10 stolen bases a season.
