Tulsa Talons News Release

Tulsa, OK- The arenafootball2 League office has announced that Tulsa Talons lineman Greg Taylor has been named the af2 Ironman of the Week. Taylor had a big game on both sides of the ball as the Talons came from behind to defeat the Memphis Xplorers 61-57 last Saturday night in Memphis.

The 6-2, 270-pound lineman from Harding caught his first two passes of the season, including the game-winning touchdown, an 11-yard reception with 38 seconds remaining in the game. Taylor was also a force on the defensive line, putting pressure on Memphis quarterback Rod Robinson all game. He the Talons with 5.5 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble. On the season, Taylor, the af2's All-Time leading sacker, now leads the Talons with four sacks and has 36.5 quarterback take-downs for his career.

"Greg played an outstanding game on Saturday night," said head coach Skip Foster. "He played a solid first half and really turned it up in the second half.

Taylor's two catches on Saturday night came after the Talons didn't throw a ball his way in their first four games.

"He's a very good receiving tight end," said Foster. "He's got great hands and runs routes properly. We've got to try and get him the ball more often.

Taylor and his Talons teammates are preparing for their next contest this Saturday night when they return home to host the San Diego Riptide at 7:30 at the Tulsa Convention Center. The Talons will be trying to improve upon their af2 record 20 consecutive regular season home victories and are offering a couple of promotional ticket opportunities at the game. Groups of 15 or more can receive two for one group tickets by calling the Talons office at 664-4453 and, in honor of Mothers' Day this Sunday, mothers can receive a free ticket at the box office on Saturday night when they bring their child to the game.

Tulsa (4-1) is currently in first place in the Central Division standings, two games ahead of the Arkansas Twisters (2-3) and the Bossier City Battle Wings (2-3). San Diego (3-2) is tied with the Hawaiian Islanders for second place in the West Division, one game behind the Wichita Stealth (4-1).
