KW Titans News Release
The KW Titans are happy to announce their first signing for the upcoming 2022 National Basketball League of Canada Season.
Please join us in welcoming Tyrrel Tate to the team!
Tyrrel Tate is no stranger to the Pros. This 6'5 ¬Â³ Shooting Guard comes off a season in Uruguay after time spent in the G-League with Capital City Go-Go, Canton Charge and Texas Legends.
Ready to get back to Canada after the last time he was in the country with the Fraser Valley Bandits of the CEBL, Tate is ready to get to work.
Tate on choosing the Titans:
"I'm excited to be apart of a great organization and ready to give the fans an exciting team to watch. I know the wait has the anticipation high and I am ready to get to it!!!
I picked Kitchener because it has always been a great organization in my eyes. Then, I heard coach Neal was going to be joining the organization, and our prior relationship provides a solid foundation to hit the ground running. He brought a lot to the Windsor Express while he was there and I'm excited to call him coach."
Born in Calgary Alberta, Tate attended HBCU Fayetteville State in North Carolina. Although undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft, Tate was picked up by the Utah Jazz G-League affiliate, Idaho Stampede (now Salt Lake City Stars), to start his professional career.
While Tate is mainly a shooting guard, you will see him playing point guard from time to time. He is in the top five for NBLC and CEBL shooting percentage at 3-point range, and consistently averaging 16 points per game. His FG percentages are over 40% and 50% respectively, and always above 80% when he gets to the line.
"Tate has the work ethic we are looking for, and the community dedication to bring the fans an exciting game. He's going to set the tone for the other players daily. He has veteran leadership, but the energy of a rookie. He's playing the best he's ever been playing.
We are just over a month from training camp, and Tate's going to come in ready to go. I couldn't be happier to have him come onboard!" - Mel Kobe - VP Basketball Operations & General Manager.
