Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA (July 2, 2007)-The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that they have agreed to terms with right wing Dmitri Tarabrin, who returns for the 20th anniversary season.

The 30-year old native of Moscow, Russia will enter his ninth season with the organization. Last season, he started the year in the former United Hockey League (UHL) with the Bloomington Prairie Thunder. He returned to the Chiefs shortly after Christmas, appearing in 47 games while collecting 16 goals and 18 assists, tying him for sixth on the team in scoring.

"Dmitri is a veteran guy who will certainly be instrumental to the team next year. Besides having a lot of offensive skill, he brings that high energy style of play that we are looking for from the team," stated Chiefs head coach, Ian Herbers.

A fan favorite, Tarabrin has played in 474 career games as a Chief. In 2005-06, he became the organization's all-time leader in games played, surpassing the mark of 414 set by former teammate, and current Las Vegas Wranglers' assistant coach, Brent Bilodeau. Tarabrin got his start in 1994-95, playing two seasons for the North Battleford North Stars of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) before entering the ECHL. For his entire ECHL career, he has played in 539 career games with the Chiefs and Wheeling Nailers, notching 123 goals and 173 assists.

"I am happy to be coming back. Johnstown has been my home now for the past few years and it is where I want to be. I am really looking forward to the start of the season," said Tarabrin.

The Chiefs kick off their 20th-anniversary season Oct. 18 at home vs. Wheeling.
