Tampa Walks-Off, Completes Sweep of Dunedin

TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Yankees (7-4) finished off a three-game sweep by defeating the Dunedin Blue Jays (3-8) 3-2 in walk-off fashion on Sunday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field. It was the second walk-off of the series and the seventh of the season for the Yankees.
Yeicok Calderon proved to be the latest hero for the T-Yanks as he grounded an RBI single into right field in the bottom of the 10th.
Both starting pitchers performed well as Tampa RHP Jaron Long and Dunedin LHP Matt Boyd dueled through six innings.
The Blue Jays cracked a scoreless tie in the sixth. With runners on the corners, Marcus Knecht singled up the middle to give Dunedin a 1-0 lead.
Long pitched five and a third innings, yielding one run on six hits. The sinker baller stuck out six and did not surrender a walk in the no-decision.
Aaron Judge tied the game off Boyd in the bottom of the sixth by lining a home run over the wall in right-center field. It was the first home run of the season as a Tampa Yankee for the 1st round pick of 2013.
Boyd allowed the one run on three hits in six innings of work, walking two and striking out eight.
The Yankees bullpen retired 10 consecutive batters before Andy Fermin hit a two-out single in the ninth off LHP Ramon Benjamin. Emilo Guerrero followed by lining a ball towards Judge in right field. Judge attempted to make a diving catch and the ball skipped by him, rolling all the way to the warning track. Fermin scored on the play, giving Dunedin a late 2-1 advantage.
Blue Jays brought in Danny Barnes for the save situation in the bottom of the ninth. Calderon, who had struck out his prior three at-bats, knocked a one-out double over Knecht's head in right field. A single by Matt Snyder placed runners on the corners and Manager Al Pedrique called upon Greg Bird to pinch-hit for Wes Wilson. A fly ball to center field proved to be deep enough as Calderon tagged and scored the tying run.
A 2-2 tie moved into the 10th as RHP Alex Smith (3-3) took over for Tampa. Smith worked around a two-out walk to toss a scoreless frame.
Kramer Champlin (3-2) relieved Barnes in the 10th. Judge worked a 3-2 count and drew a walk. With one out, Dante Bichette Jr. advanced Judge to second with a single to center. Angelo Gumbs flew out to right before Calderon stepped up and knocked the first pitch he saw into right field.
Following a day off on Monday, the T-Yanks travel to Lakeland to begin a four-game commuter series with the Flying Tigers. Game three of the series will be in Tampa on Everyday Heroes Night at Steinbrenner Field, sponsored by Sheraton Suites.
Fans can enjoy a food truck rally out front. The gates open at 5:00 p.m. for the 7 o'clock first pitch. All military personnel, fire fighters, police officers and EMT specialist will receive free admission. A custom jersey auction will take place and the proceeds benefit Everyday Heroes USA. A fireworks show will follow the game, sponsored by Budweiser.
